Enea Increases Its Business Success in Japan

Major Deal with Anritsu for Use of OSE RTOS in IT Measurement Equipment

Stockholm, Sweden, September 20, 2004 – Enea Embedded Technology, a leading
provider of embedded software for the communications market, today announced that it has signed a major contract with Anritsu Japan. Anritsu, a global leader in the telecommunications, optical and wireless industries, has chosen the OSE real-time
operating system as a core technology for Anritsu’s PureFlow™ Traffic Shaper bandwidth control engine. The contract with Anritsu is another success within Enea’s
strategic endeavors to address the important Asian market for communications and
network equipment. OSE is the leading operating system for the communications
market in Europe and USA. Enea has been taking an active part in the Japanese market since 2001.

“In Europe and the USA, our OSE real-time operating system is already widely
recognized for use in network and communications equipment,” explained Christophe
Ballan, Enea Embedded Technology’s executive vice president of sales, Eurasia. “We
are very pleased to see that our advanced OSE technology is now becoming well recognized by leading companies on the Japanese market, such as Anritsu. We are confident that we will be able to continue to extend this success further into the Asian market.”

Anritsu’s high-precision “PureFlow Traffic Shaper” bandwidth control engine
protects entire IP networks from the traffic burst transmitted by the streaming servers
and real-time encoders that are used in IP network video distribution systems. It
permits simultaneous control of ten one-gigabit links that support high-quality IP network video distribution services. Communication carriers or ISPs (Internet Service Providers) can easily control bandwidth and ensure smooth operation of high-precision content distribution services on the network without requiring changes in IP
network topology and network equipment. Anritsu chose the OSE RTOS, because the
company required memory management support and error detection capabilities that
improve reliability and security within systems that feature hard real-time and a low
memory footprint.

Yuhei Iwasaki, manager for Anritsu’s PureFlow business promotion, explained: “We
selected OSE because it has a proven track record. The main criteria that led us to
choose OSE were its high-availability, high-reliability, and scalability as well as its
capacity for distributed systems. With OSE, these are all feasible without adverse
effects on overall system performance.”

The OSE RTOS is well suited for use in complex, distributed and fault tolerant
communication systems. It offers advanced features such as built-in error-handling
and high-availability, automatic supervision and dynamic memory management, that
can dramatically reduce the time and cost of developing and maintaining a real-time
system while simultaneously improving quality and reliability. In OSE, the kernel
manages interprocess communication transparently, regardless of the processor in
which a process is located.
