From Electronic Control Units to Telematics
As today’s cars and trucks become much ‘smarter’ the need for effective solutions enabling communication between computers both within the same vehicle and between vehicles is dramatically increasing. These solutions include everything from electronic control units for airbags to global positioning systems in long-haul trucks. With our many years of experience with embedded systems for automotive applications, and our broad competence in telecom and datacom, Enea offers extensive know-how in both the existing and the new technologies now being used in the automotive industry.
For example, we have participated in the creation of vehicle communications systems, safety-critical systems and real-time operating systems adapted for automotive use. In addition, we have developed hardware with very strict requirements regarding availability, energy consumption, durability and low manufacturing cost.
Case examples include:
- Development of system platforms for control units
- System responsibility for control units
- Application development for electronic control units (ECU)
- Development of telematics units
- Preliminary studies for next-generation telematics (e.g., GPRS/datacom, Java-based services)
- Development of communications software and hardware (CAN, MOST, LIN)
