Teltronic Chooses Enea's OSE RTOS For Next Generation TETRA Communication Terminals

February 14, 2005, Stockholm, Sweden and Zaragoza, Spain – Enea Embedded Technology today announced that Teltronic, a leading manufacturer of radio communications systems for professionals, has selected Enea’s OSE real-time operating system for use in their next-generation TETRA equipment. Under the agreement, Teltronic will license OSE for use in communication terminals developed for public emergency service organizations such as police, rescue, and fire departments.

Enea will provide an optimized version of the OSE 5.0 real-time operating system for Texas Instruments’ OMAP™ processor. Teltronic will integrate OSE in their TETRA-based voice and data transmission devices, including mobile and handheld terminals.

“We choose OSE for its OMAP™ platform support and ability to meet the strict specifications required in our next generation products. The solution is particularly well adapted to wireless handsets that need to combine robustness and flexibility of use with memory and power constraints,” says Víctor Laría, R&D Director of Teltronic.

“Teltronic’s decision to invest in our technology fortifies our position as a market leader in security-critical wireless communication solutions. It also confirms our strategy in focusing on our OSE product family in vertical markets,” says Adrian Leufvén, Vice President Marketing at Enea Embedded Technology.

More about OSE for OMAP™ technology

OSE is a memory-protected RTOS optimized for high-availability, high-reliability distributed communications systems. Utilizing the hardware memory management facilities of the OMAP™ platform, OSE provides a firewall that enhances reliability and availability by preventing kernel and application processes from corrupting each other. OSE features a power management system that extends battery life, a crash-safe file system with flash support, and a complete networking solution with TCP/IP and other networking/security protocols. It also features dynamic download capability, which enhances mobile device flexibility by enabling new applications to be downloaded to systems as they operate in the field.

More about Teltronic

Since 1974, Teltronic (based in Zaragoza, Spain) is dedicated to the design and manufacture of radio communication equipment and systems. Teltronic´s products have developed towards sophisticated conventional mobile radio systems, trunking, with analogue technology and the last trunked digital TETRA systems, used by numerous clients from the public safety and security sectors such as the police force, fire brigade, ambulance service, transport companies, large industries, electricity companies, private radio companies, public trunking networks, etc.

Teltronic has a great experience in the development and installation of:

  • Mobile and handheld terminals for voice and data transmission.
  • PMR conventional, trunking MPT-1327 and TETRA infrastructures.
  • Terminals for automatic vehicle location, remote control and telemetry.
  • Co-ordination and communication centres.

Teltronic’s portfolio includes the NEBULA infrastructure, based on the TETRA over Ethernet/IP concept, and terminals with added value as encryptiom, GPS and GSM-dual capabilities. Also, a dispatching centre with a digital switch allows VoIP operation as well as interfacing with other radio networks (conventional, MPT-1327, GSM, etc) and telephone networks (ISDN, PBX, etc).
